Run Wild Vancouver Society’s mandate has evolved over the years from one of primarily fundraising to a focus on educational and community initiatives. We’re very proud of what our little team of volunteers was able to accomplish this past season in our programs with your help!
Survive Outside Workshops
We delivered our flagship Survive Outside for Trail Runners, a special edition of the AdventureSmart classroom program, at 5 locations for over 130 attendees.
We plan on delivering an additional 4-6 events throughout 2020 at locations around the Lower Mainland, starting in late Spring.
We held two special presentations as part of our new Speaker Series for over 70 attendees: Snow Safety with FX Gagnon and Fastpacking 101 with Jeff Pelletier and Adam Harris.
Are you an expert from the community with something valuable to share? We’d love to hear from you! We hope to expand on this program this year.
As part of our commitment to giving back to the trails, we coordinated two trail building days in partnership with North Shore Mountain Bike Association where our 23 participants put in over 92 hours of collective trail work.
Trail maintenance is a great way for runners to get the volunteer hours needed for many trail races, while giving back to the trails we rely on for our training.
We plan on doing at least two more of these sessions in 2020 so stay tuned for dates so that you can get involved!
In 2019 we raised over $1,725 for volunteer Search and Rescue in BC from attendees to our programs. This will be donated in the coming weeks as part of a large donation of funds from the past two years of our programs and fundraising campaigns.
People are always asking how they can get involved as a volunteer. Whether you want a casual role volunteering a couple hours at a community event, or you have the time and desire to contribute on a more consistent level, we can always use the help.
We’d love to see where your trail running travels take you. Tag us on your next adventure. #runwildvan
